Now I started this new topic, jumping from that 'Another write-up ...' topic, where this discussion started.
(Both topics are on the 'open' General Forum)

    Interesting Graeme.
However, I think the DIY masks on those links you show are more than I need.

    My design criteria were these:

    ·         The mask is only meant to be used for about 20 minutes at a time, while shopping food (once a week).

    ·         The mask has to be reusable, so cotton, which can be ironed, is my choice.

    ·         I mainly want to protect others (in particular those who work there) against any viruses from me.

I think my model may help a little there.

However, it would be nice to get some protection the other way as well, so now, inspired by Graeme’s posting (here, 24.3.2020), I made a simple curtain of sailcloth (Odyssey) and stapled it to a mask.

It looked nice enough, but it soon felt warm and humid when using it, a bit like breathing into a bag. I think I would rather make such a skirt from the same cotton duck as used in the mask. Even though it is not watertight, any drops will be stopped by it for that half hour, me thinks.

    Arne
