I removed my redundant seacocks a month ago, and described the process here. It's not hard, so don't be nervous about it. You just need a grinder to cut back to a clean surface. I worked from the inside, because it's easier to duct tape smoothly over the outside so that you have less finishing work to do there. It doesn't matter so much what it looks like inside, in the bilge.

I have removed a useless Bukh 20 engine from my boat and hope to use instead an outboard when necessary and wondered if anyone had any experience or advice to offer.

Also as I do not like the idea of holes under the water I would like to glass over them and then fill voids with foam along the lines of the excellent Roger Taylor yacht Mingming. I was quoted a lot of money to seal the sea cock openings and hope to do it myself, possibly by sxrewing in a backing pad and glassing over or feathering the hole edges.

I hope to modify the boat for short handed long distance sailing but am not very experienced, so I would really welcome any advice regarding my project.

    Many thanks,

    Roger
