Hum... Well, I might be an incorrigible delinquent and maybe a lucky one, but I arrived in l'Aber Wrach from Scotland via Ireland and Wales, with China Blue and her old washed out british flag. I never cared about customs, never even had an idea I had to do so... And sailed all the way south through 5 different harbours, without the slightest worry.

    (don't try this at home :) )

Eric, I imagine that you have a direct contact with someone organising LSdGdM.

I submitted a question on their website but didn't get a reply. No rush, but could you ask them if La Douane/Police aux Frontières will have a presence in La Golfe for boats arriving from abroad please?

Boats coming from England obviously have to clear customs but may do so in perhaps Roscoff unless sailing non-stop to Morbihan, in which case it seems that like a boat coming from the west (Ireland) you would have to call in to Brest or Lorient (Frontier Ports) to clear customs. Surely there are tall-ships arriving direct to Morbihan that will require customs clearance on arrival. A boat coming from Ireland is supposed to notify immigration as Ireland is outside the Schengen Area, and in my case, if I get there, I'm a British Citizen so I'm in the same boat as the other Brits and must get my passport stamped. What a faff!

To join the Golfe du Morbihan from the Est channel, there is an alternative route by the Ille et Rance canal from St Malo, up the Rance to Dinan through the Rance hydrohelectric dam then the canal through the Britanny inland (very calm and nice) to Rennes (a bit noisy to cross the big town) and then through the country abain to Redon and the mouth of the Vilaine. The end of the canal is very near of the Golfe du Morbihan. The draft in the canal is limited (1,4 meter) and you have de desmast the boat in Dinan and remast it or at La Roche Bernard (there is an opening bridge down the river) or in the Crouesty.

    hello, thanks eric, very helpfull
Bearing in mind that different regulations apply to inland waterways, you need an ATIS capable VHF and the requirement for a certificate of competency may be more stringent than on the coast.

    Bonjour

The physical meeting of the AGM will take place this year on the Ile aux Moines harbour just after the Grande Parade of the Semaine du Golfe du Morbihan, the closing navigation event, and before the firework fired from a  Ile aux Moines harbour.
