Flutterby has several choices on how long to make the halyard stretch to, in increasing lengths:
- (Both) Short: Long enough to reach the topping lifts
- (Mizzen) Long enough to reach a bimini/boom crutch/solar panel mount (not fabricated yet, but the minimum height is well enough defined to make a safe assumption.
- (Mizzen) Long enough to set the yard down on the coachroof (fwd) and stern rail (aft)
- (Mizzen) Long enough to set the yard down on the side deck.
- (Main) Long enough to set the yard down on the coachroof.
- (Main) Long enough to set the yard down on the side deck.

I don't want to be stuck in a really difficult situation working on the sails...but I don't want to either waste lots of line, OR assure myself of extra line crowding the cockpit that never will get used.
