Raising and lowering the mast with the help of my shear legs

    Hi Graeme, Yes I built the Adelie 14 from 2013  and finished it September 2018 and we splashed her at the most horrible rain and therefore no sailing in 2018. Now that I can raise the mast all by myself I hope to sail for the first time in the next few days. The mast is dropped though the mast partner and then it is held in the mast shoe. You can see the shoe in the picture in the attachments. That the mast will not hop out of the 8 inch high shoe I will use a click on collar around the mast under the partner. I will be anyway a nice weather sailor you will just make day trips to the nearby lakes. One I have perfected the rigging at the ramp I hope to be ready to sail in half an hour including transferring ballast from the car to the boat and all the other things one needs for a days sail.     Karl: Thank you for sharing your video, raising the mast, on your most interesting little trailer boat. Did you build her yourself? Did she sail well, on your first outing?

    I am interested to know how the mast is supported after it is raised. Is it dropped down through the deck, and you lift it out again to lower?

    Also, do you have any quick procedure for rigging the boat and de-rigging it at the launching ramp?

    Hi,

    As I want to make my first sail in a few days I tested stepping and lowering my aluminium mast and did this on the trailer in my driveway.

    Note that I can do it sitting on the cockpit bench.

    In the attachment I added a picture of the raised mast, partner and foot.
