    I have used single nylon rings on Amiina's main sheetlets almost all the time. 

    Cheap, light, and quite slippy enough 

    I was hesitant about their strength, but they seem perfect for the low stress and relative low forces of the split rig.

    Ah, excellent!

    I was concerned about change with a single ring. Perhaps it's my small boat, but I often seen to end up pulling the sheet through the blocks when it's quite slack and I didn't want the lines to be able to get in contract. But if you haven't seen this problem I'll be glad to simplify things further.

    Hi Richard, welcome back. You'll not have seen that I've been using these Barton and Antal rings for some time, in place of sheet blocks and LHP blocks. There's no need to use two of them linked by a Dyneema strop; you can run both the sheet and the sheet span through the same eye, if you choose a large enough size (22mm hole will take 10mm sheet and 4mm Dyneema sheet span) and the end of an anti-twist span can be tied around the groove of the ring. A small ring, with a 10mm hole, can be used in a three point span of 4mm Dyneema. OK, there's more friction than a good block, but there's also less weight and less cost.

    I'm sure I can't be the first person to think of this, but I haven't seen it elsewhere so I thought I'd put it up here in case it's useful. Or in case it's wrongheaded in which case I'd love to hear why!

    I've unfortuntely been quite ill for over a year and have not been keeping up with JR developments. (You can read a bit about that on the blog too.) I'm getting back to things and hope to be more active again.
