That's looking great Annie! I really like all those colours. It makes your boat even more special. I find myself getting more and more leaning towards efficiency wanting one big pot of paint for everything and let the boat what it does best with or without paint. But the effort of choosing and applying such a paint scheme does make it an eye catcher!

The red and the yellow paint have caused a few comments and one or two pursed lips.

No, that looks fine and good, but...

You can imagine the reaction when I applied bright pink paint to my boat.  One good friend thought it was 'ghastly' and said so with feeling and variations each time she looked at it.

#metoo. Stronger words than 'ghastly' amongst the variations, I hope. If I'd known you were going to paint the boat pink, I wouldn't have designed it!

I've just completed a new post for those who are following my progress.  Lots of pretty pictures :-)

Oops!  Thank you, David.  I only finished the post at 7.30 pm and forgot all about mentioning it here.  I had just remembered, now, put down my sand paper and dashed up to do so.  You saved me the trouble :-)

Hi David.   Yes, some progress.  A lot of nitpicking work now! The vents in question are "Air-Only".  If you look at the labels on my blog,  they are mentioned.  Click on a label and it will take you to a post mentioning them, at least one of which will have a link.  Plastimo do something similar: probably almost as good.

Annie well done another great blog entry and more great progress!

I recently did a search for dorado vents hoping something nice would pop up instead of making boxes and sourcing attractive cowls.

Is the white plastic vent your solution?  I see the base is ribbed which might be to let water run out?

    Interested in what you found.

I'm sorry for the delay in updating my blog.  The new Blogger is a nightmare and I can only upload photos one at a time and, for some reason, most of them need to be done twice.  It seems ridiculous to get a computer just to do my blog, but it's looking like that may be the only solution.  Anyway, I've put up about 2/3 of my photos, its 8.00 pm and time to cook my tea.  anniehill.blogspot.com

Bruno. So lovely to hear from you!  Thank you for your good advice: I shall remember to put a plug in the dinghy and to take it out when I put the dinghy in the davits.  I just hope I remember to out it back in before I launch it! :-D

I have forgotten to put the bung back in, more than once.  The first time it happened, I looked down and thought, "Why is there all that water in the dinghy?"  After that, I would just curse and haul the dinghy back up, drain the water out and put in the bung.  It always seemed to happen when I was in a hurry, adding insult to the injury.  I have two bungs in Blue Moon's dinghy.  I don't have davits on Blue Moon, as the stern is too narrow and I have a servo pendulum windvane mounted on the transom, but I intend to hang the dinghy from a halyard in sheltered anchorages at night.  I envy you your davits, Annie.  On Arion, I always snugged the dinghy up in the davits, ready to go, if the weather was unstable, yet it was available in a moment the next morning if I had not made a midnight escape.  On Blue Moon, if I fear I might need to make a quick departure, I will have to haul the dinghy up and invert it on the cabin top.  Davits are brilliant for coastal cruising.
