    Read on???

Fitting a rudder to the transom of a Vega would be piece of cake. The original could be kept in hot stby, locked in center position to add directional stability and move the CLR aft. Many of the owners of the 26' sister of the Vega, the less known TUR 80, have done just that.

The Vega is not so similar to the folkboat family. I know there was a Swede who had a Vega with a junkrig. If you look through old JRA-newsletters before 2000, you may find it. I think the Vega should be good with a JR, but one issue has to be sorted out:
A new rudder has to be hung on the transom to stand up to a sloop JR. The original Vega has an inferior rudder tucked behind the "short, long" keel, where it provides too little turning moment to control the boat.

PS 5.8: No, it was an Allegro 30, not a Vega

Hello All -Has any one out there converted an Albin Vega?  I guess Arne may popup and saay that the design is very similar to Ingeborg which at a casual glance it might well be. If there is anything here? If so I can't find it but maybe I am lookiing in the wrong place. Or just being dumb! Any guidance gratefully accepted All the best David
