    I will apologize in advance for asking a question that I'm sure has been answered a hundred times already in the these forums, but I'm struggling to find the right thread to pull.

    I have a 1979 33 foot Pearson 10M, and its standing rigging is ready for replacement, so now's the time to make the change to a junk, if possible without tearing the interior apart too much.

    So I'd like to, I think, convert to a single cambered split rig.  Can anybody point me to a how-to for analysis? Something like:

    1) Determine the Center of Effort for the existing rig

    2) Assume a mast height x% of the existing

    3) Draw a sail on that mast with an area of 130% of the existing sail area

    4) For a split rig, see if you can get the Center of Effort of the new sail to coincide with the old by manipulating the height and width of the sail, while keeping the mast in the same place as the old.  Try to keep the height & width within parameters blank, blank, and blank.

    5) If you can't get the Center of Effort to line up with the old, try raking the mast forward as much as x degrees.

     

    You get the idea.  Can anybody help a brother out?
