A this point, I am just interested in the concept (but, you know how these things can develop .....!)  But a thirty-two footer, with some version of the junk rig and twin asymmetric boards, must be the nearest concept to sailing-boat heaven ......

A thirty-two foot version is being drawn-up for a Kiwi couple?  I hope we will see some illustrations of this very tasty-sounding boat soon, either here or somewhere else on the website - or at least in the magazine?

"Is being drawn-up" is not quite accurate. "Will be drawn up" would be more so. I have scaled up the Freeship model, which is easy to do, but I've taken it no further, because I haven't yet met the people concerned, to talk to them about their particular accommodation requirements.

Iain, are you seriously interested in building? The process of developing a larger SibLim is going to be very much client-lead, and the end result is going to be in the public domain, as SibLim 26 is, so you, or anyone else, in the market for a new boat, should do as Annie did, and make a list of all your "must haves" and "would likes".

I wonder how much headroom (roughly) this 32' version would have around the companionway..?

Edit: If Annie's SibLim is apparently 26' and has 160 cm of headroom, looking at the dxf. A 32' version if scaled equally heightwise would have 32/26*160= ~197 cm at the companionway. The scaling might not work that way in practice but it should still stop my 177 cm high head from bumping into the roof. :)

Edit2: I'm not exactly sure what I'm after at the moment. The thing is, I might soon find myself with a decent amount of currency to spend on a boat and at first I was looking at something in the 35-40 foot range to use mainly as a liveaboard for the time being, instead of paying rent for my apartment. But for future voyages I would most likely prefer something smaller, manageable and more affordable (upkeepwise). Something like a 32' SibLim with with a minimal cockpit (just a miniscule foot well) might just be the sweet spot to provide ample space for two people. I'd just have to figure out where to build and how to find time for it.

When I scale the SibLim model up, or down, I apply a different scale factor to the x, y and z directions. As boats get longer, so they get relatively narrower and shallower, as a rule.

In the case of the SibLim 31 or 32 (planning to use the length of four sheets of either 8ft or 2.5m plywood for the topsides), I would aim at a headroom under the centreline of the deck of 183cm. The displacement is 4.7 tonnes, the same as Badger, and the internal volume would be similar. I would use a similar layout to SibLim, but there would be scope for a different layout of the sleeping cabin (double or twin berths), and there would be room for a quarter berth, and/or chart table, and/or wetgear hanging space.
