North Atlantic 29 Plans out there? (E.g. Teleport)

I have packaged the plans and sent them to the JRA for digitizing and archiving. They should arrive on the 24th.

Better with the JRA than in storage here. Otherwise they would probably end up in a recycling bin sometime down the road.

I received an email from Bill Dixon. He writes:

To be honest, we would not be interested in selling further plans of the NA 29. But if the junk rig association is interested in having them for their archives, I am ok with this.

I love the teleport site and pictures, amazing.

I suppose they would need cleaning up and any revenue they might realize from them would be eaten up in time given to support service.

    Cheers, Jim

Okay, let's see if he replies to my email. I will wait a bit. If I don't hear shortly, I'll just telephone him.

I sent an email to Dixon Yacht Design requesting permission to put the limited set of Angus' NA29 drawing on the site back in Autumn last year - got no response.

If you fail to get a response after a suitable allowance of time you might consider posting them to me - JRA will pay costs. I could then get them digitised by the same lot who did Jock's archive, and store them with the rest of the archive til such a time as we get an answer. We could not, of course, post them online until we got an answer, but at least they would be safely archived.

It might be that we would have to write an official letter to Dixon from the JRA requesting clarification. They might be more inclined to respond to a postal request rather than one by e-mail.

I think it would be a good idea to digitize the plans. At least for archival purposes.

Meanwhile, I have written to Bill Dixon and await his reply.

No news of Teleport other than what they post on their blog, Teleport Expeditions. I agree, they would be better off moving the boat south for ease of access.

Jim, could you get them scanned, first and send the files to Chris, for reference only?  It would be awful if they got lost, or damaged in transit, or if Dixons's misplaced them.

Any news of Teleport, BTW?  I think they might need to move her down to CA to sell her readily.  I know someone there, looking for a junk.

As copyright holder, Bill Dixon should certainly be your first call. If Dixon Yacht Design proved not to be interested, however, we'd love to have them for our growing archive of Jock and Blondie's design work.

Okay, I will write them tonight and ask. I would gladly give them my copy in exchange for postage. If they are not interested I would be happy to donate them to your archives.

I just found the set of plans I used to build Teleport  (Marco Polo III). They were stored so safely even I couldn't find them except by accident! Perhaps I should offer them to the company (now Dixon Yacht Design) who sold them to me in the first place as they have lost the originals.

My set is pretty old. (1975 I think.) They could copy them, tidy them up and resell to anyone interested.

I recall it did make a difference in windward ability but I didn't measure it at the time. In any case, it does make for fun deck work because it worked so well. I'd like to repeat that a whisker pole is very helpful/ It's essential to get the best out of the sail.
