Hi David, Annie. I'm being denied access to the last two images, error 403. Can't remember what that means! 'Annie Wielding Took' works fine.

Having followed the SibLim posts it is marvellous to see your dream coming true, I had the impression it was more of a distant possibility, so to see you cutting sheets of ply - WOW.  I do hope that Fantail readily finds a new home and the project does not falter if that it is not so.  I am sure I would enjoy owning her, though not so convenient to pop over for a look.  That said she is short of a hull and I have spotted a catamaran ripe for conversion, so who knows, finally time for me to top dreaming?

    All the best.

I didn't mention which month, let alone which year!

It would be nice to have you helping out with some of the big jobs, but better still to hear that you are going to build your own boat.  I'd love to see a variation on the theme of my SibLim.

I see nothing worrying about 'starting to get used to, and enjoying not living under the shackles and bondage of employment'.  I've pretty much managed to live like that all my life.  Remember, the motto is: retire now, work later (and with any luck you won't need to do much work!)

The tides are probably good through till about the 8th - that will give you a bit more time (!?)

If I keep being unemployed, and now that my hand is better, I may have to come and help out with some of the big jobs. I'm starting to get used to, and enjoying not living under the shackles and bondage of employment, which is a bit of a worry.

We're busily making a set of parts for all the bulkheads. At stations 3 & 4, the bulkheads take 2 1/2 sheets of plywood, and we'll be butt-strapping them together, with one butt incorporated into the bilgeboard case setup on the port side; the other butt will be in the doorway, so there will be two short butt straps only. At station 6, the companionway, the bulkhead is from two sheets of plywood, with their inner edges 610mm apart, forming the companionway and the access under the cockpit. At station 1, the bulkhead is still big enough to need to be made from two sheets, but at station 0, the bulkhead is much smaller, and will come out of half a sheet. At station 8, where the outboard is mounted, the bulkhead comes out of one sheet, on its side. At stations 2, 5 and 7, there is no point in making a permanent bulkhead in the setup, and we're making up temporary moulds from MDF, except for the piece under the cabin sole, which is acting as a floor, holding the two sides of the boat together.

    Annie & David

Great to see hull no.1 in production!  The model looks fantastic and I'm excited to see the full size version.

    Keep up the good work.

    Estimated launch date ;-)

Very exciting to see it happening. The hardest steps of any journey are the first, so you have started now, all you need to do is finish. As per your comment in pic 9, I did notice in all the pics that David is the only one wielding tools, be careful, he may ask for a pay rise soon! You can be sure though that with David on the job everything is going to be marked out with precision and accuracy. I wish you the very best luck with the project and look forward to seeing pics of the ongoing creation.

Photos can be misleading! We're actually working closely together on the marking out, checking each other's measurements, spotting each other's errors and trying to draw the pencil lines in the right place. But it's Annie who has been stepping back from the job and taking the photos.

Ah well, back to work. This afternoon's job for me:

    1. Finish marking out the bulkhead at stn 0, the forward end of the waterline.
    2. Watch Annie cutting it out, and take some photos of her doing it :-)
