You sent me rushing to my bookshelf to look ay my copy of the book, but the same thing - no dimensions. I expect you could probably build it any way by drawing fair curves on the plywood as you set the boat out and double checking everything as you went along so that all the components match up. I expect the information will be available somewhere on the internet.

I once built a 'Skimmer' which is the next boat in the book. It was easy to build and a great dinghy, in fact it is an ideal replacement for an inflatable dinghy. A bit bigger than the 'Tortoise' but so practical and a good load carrier.

David can you tell me more about the Skimmer? For example what was it like to row in a bit of a chop?

Gary, if you are thinking of a boat the size of the Tortoise, I would suggest John Welsford's dinghy, 'Scraps'.  http://intheboatshed.net/2014/04/01/john-welsford-completes-scraps-new-tender-design-solo-sailors/  (Sorry, the new WA doesn't allow me to do the links properly on my netbook.)  I have her 5ft sister and just love it and think you would find the 6ft version more fun to row than the Tortoise.

David I did wonder about the Skimmer, I'll look at it's dimensions again and see  if it will fit...just in case.

Many years ago I bought Payson's book Build the new instant boats. Well I've decided to build the tortoise as i've read some good reviews on it's suitability as a tender. Junk riggers seem to have an afinity with it anyway. Well I have the plans in the book but sadly the cut out dimensions are missing. Does anyone have the plans so i can get the dimensions? I can post a photo  showing my copy sans dimensions if proof is required.
