In the meantime, why not download Practical Junk Rig, from here: https://junkrigassociation.org/library?  You will learn a lot from it!

Thanks for replying. China Girl is indeed her name and the poor girl is in need of some TLC but the basics are there at least.  It will be a case of make do and mend for the most part as money is tight but I'm confident that I shall get her up and running. My main concern at the moment is how to rig the sheets properly.  I shall take pictures when next on board which will be mid August.

    Hi Peter,

Would that be "China Girl"? You got a bargain there,  congratulations!

Could I suggest you hoist the sail as-is and post a good photo from the starboard side,  so all the lines are visible,  then it'll be apparent if there are any irregularities in the rigging? I'm sure JRA members will pitch in with advice.

    Regards Martin

    Hi Peter,

is this the boat type you mean? If yes, then I suggest that you measure up the distance from the bow to the centre of the mast. Measuring the mast height above deck would also be useful.
With these dimensions available, I am sure  several can suggest a new sail for you.

Btw. bilge keels or fin keel?

    Cheers, Arne

Hello all,  I recently bought a B/K Macwester atlanta viking 28 with a Sunbird hinged 80s rig with a 7 panel 440sq ft sail. She is in bad need of rigging correctly.  Time, previous owners lack of experience and bad bodges have taken their toll so if anyone could kindly supply a plan of the rig or be of help in answering questions I would be very grateful. I am new to the junk rig but of a practical turn of mind so I'm hopeful of getting this done. Thanks
