New Zealand Tall Ships Regatta junket - 12th January 2019

As usual, the NZ JRA will be holding our major junket of the year to coincide with Russell Boating Club's, Tall Ships Regatta.  Please try and make an effort to attend: it's really very important for the RBC to have a good turnout and it's a major opportunity for the JRA to show its wonderful NZ fleet in action!

Dates for the junket: from when you arrive in the BOI until when you leave.  Anyone wanting to organise some time together with other junkies, apart from few days around the regatta, please post here.

Blondie will be attending. Looking forward to another great junket in the warm clear waters of the Bay of Islands.

    Ahoy Bruno

I'm over my ears with last-minute articles for the magazine and hoped someone else would post.  Silly me.

There weren't enough junks there - you were sorely missed - but the four racing and Freebie in among the fleet all added to the colour and spectacle.  My bottle of rum went to the First Boat Over the Line, but this caused unseemly squabbling and Christine anyway awarded it to one of the boats who didn't actually claim to have won it, so we'll have to choose a different reason next year.

Suffice it to say that Zebedee took second place in the Tall Ships Race, on handicap and only 9 seconds behind the winner!

I've attached some photos to give you the flavour of it all.

    Edit:

Gary Underwood was looking at all the times and noticed that we, who had been a couple of seconds ahead of a boat called Shanty, were down as being 57 seconds behind her.  Turns out that someone did their sums wrong and that in fact Zebedee won the Tall Ships by 28 seconds on handicap!!!

That's the second time a junk has won the Tall Ships.  Hah!

Thanks for these good news Annie, does this suggest that the next winner will receive a bottle of chateau ZBD?

Looking for my weekly fix of SibLim/Fanshi building, I went to Annie's blog, and a found a full report there.

I'll just say it again, because it's music to a junk sailor's ears:

Zebedee won the Tall Ships Race by 28 seconds on handicap!
