Kingfisher 20+ Bilge Keel Sailboat (Junk Rig) - $7800 Vancouver BC

You don't see a lot of kingfishers around these parts, and you don't see a lot of junk rigs for sale. So here's a kingfisher junk rig in Vancouver, if anyone is interested. Seems a little steep in price, though.

Curious about the ad: they claim the boat comes with two rigs, junk rig and bermudan. Not sure how this is accomplished with mast step position, etc. I thought the kingfishers were produced with one rig or the other. Anyone have more details?

It's probably a conversion.  The junk-rigged Kingfishers had round portholes rather than windows.  Yes, pretty expensive: about 2 or 3 times what you'd pay in the UK!  But the road trailer is probably worth several thousand dollars.

The ad actually lists the location south of Seattle near Tacoma.  I would take a look but my boat needs to sell first.  I believe this boat has been on the market for a while.  The owner may be firm on the price.  The trailer makes for a nice addition though.

Just did a members search and this boat appears to be owned by a JRA member and the boat name is Calypso.  A fine little junk rigged British boat right here on Puget Sound, Washington .

Hi - I have one of these fine little boats in the UK  - on the dual rig question, my boat was fitted out with junk from new, but the yard left the bermudan mast step in position on top of the coach roof and left the shroud plates over the gunwhales for bermudan shrouds - so if you were the owner of a bermudan mast  and sails  it would be easy to re-rig it to the more conventional rig.  A new trailer in the UK  to the original specs and design costs £2,450 in 2016.

That seems pretty neat to have such a dual rig set up.  I have finally sold my pointy rigged boat but the Kingfisher is sold.  Alas the search goes on.

Sorry I did not delete the ad for this boat.  It was sold in September 2015.  A gentleman from Gig Harbor purchased it the moment he saw the boat.  It was in perfect condition and came with the original Bermuda rig and Junk rig-yes, it was converted to a junk rig by my father.

The new owner had wanted the exact boat and had even purchased a Kingfisher 20+ with ambitious plans to convert to a Junk Rig. When this boat came up for sale, he new he had a great deal.
