i spotted these aluminium light poles on eBay in the U.S. - they are 28.5ft long, 6" at the base tapering to 4" - might be the right size for a conversion project....he wants $5100 for 12, which works out as 425 each (plus the shipping from Arkansas) He might split the lot - or you can find 11 friends...

make sure you look at engineering on the poles I looked into aluminum for

my 51 foot steel junk and they were way heavy by the time you get strong enough

I used Fiberglass pole 45 foot I can give you the makers they are really easy to work

with and do really good job. they are out of the east coast of the  USA.

check for the yield  point that's when it bends so far it won't come back.

mine with 650 feet of sail area made 85 thousand PSI at the base!

OH FORGOT WITH 30 MPH WIND.

Hello, I read your post regarding your use of  a fiberglass mast.  I'm considering the same and wonder if you could tell me how it sails?  Does it bend too much?  I'd be interested in seeing the profile lf the sail and boat.  Cheers!  Brian Swanland
