BooTwo is a 1983 Mk3 Sadler 25 Bilge Keel, which I converted to Split Junk Rig in 2020.

I have been absolutely delighted with the performance of her 30.4 m2 sail, 

which I consider superior to the original Bermudan Rig on all points of sail.

In 2017 she underwent a full osmosis treatment of gelcoat peel followed by 

steaming and drying before re coating with Reactive Resins Anti Osmosis 

products, followed by copper/epoxy antifouling. 10 coats in all.

She has her original Bukh DV8 diesel engine.

I installed new -

Plastimo 100L flexible water tank

Jabsco Heads. 

Replacement berth cushions using Dunlopillow foam and memory foam.

Rocna 10kg Anchor with 25m of 8mm chain, 50m of 14mm Waveline 8 plait 

Warp.

Origo 3000 alcohol stove.

Icom M506 Euro VHF transceiver/AIS receiver.

She has a Raymerine Tiller Pilot.

I also has a Hebridean Windvane for self steering which you can also see 

in the videos, and a Yuloh sculling oar - made out of curiosity but which I’ve 

kept on the boat as it works!

She is at Marconi Sailing Club near Maldon, Essex.

tech dinosaur or not, your hands-on workmanship surely is fine in whatever material you work with, and you are patient enough to produce fine finish as well, something I often forget. And thanks for the well-made photo album too. Let’s hope that Wild Apricot does not ‘lose’ it, as they did with some of my albums.

I’ve actually sailed a Sadler 25 (or was it 26?) for a few miles, when the late Group Captain Smith’s grandson visited Stavanger. The rig was a sort of fanned, flat sail, but with one or two hinges in each batten. I noted that the boat was very easily driven in the light winds that we had.

You’re right Peter, the Sadler 25 is single skin, the Sadler 26 is foam sandwich.
