My 22’ Newbridge Venturer is for sale so I can look for a bigger JR boat.  It’s been a great four (almost) seasons sailing “Long Time”, which is in good sailing shape but shows it’s age a little inside - just cosmetic stuff though.  But a fantastic starter boat that’s steady in a swell, heavy enough to punch through but light enough to be easily driven by a few knots of wind or a 5 or 6 hp outboard.  I got a good boat from the previous owner and after a lot of experimenting with the rig, I’ve settled back very close to the way he had it - main difference is I’ve moved the luff hauling parrels which I think helps the sail to set a bit better and more consistently.  Don’t have a throat hauling parrel because it doesn’t add a lot of benefit.  It’s a Scanes made cambered panel and the mast is aluminium.  Engine sits in a well or on a bracket on the transom.  I’ve thought about going electric but suffer from range anxiety, but maybe you could have an electric main engine in the well, and leave a light outboard on the transom as a backup.

It’s in Malahide, near Dublin and I’ve listed it at 2950 euros with a 5 hp parsun and the usual stuff that comes with a boat.  Truth is I would let it go a lot more cheaply to a sea scout or yachting group that would keep it in JR format.  And I’d negotiate with anyone who’s a JR enthusiast..  Much better price for a super-quick sale.   If it goes to Britain, there will be VAT to pay, I think, but what’s the VAT on not much??

Reason for sale?  Well, I think I want a bigger JR boat, but I’m on a marina and don’t want to have two at once.  But Long Time has been sailing well, so if it doesn’t sell straight away, that’s not the end of the world either.
