    Many thanks for those links; I've saved them! I have the book about the Farrells, "Sailing back in time" and it is great reading.

    The sight of that Spray-type boat "Bertie" was interesting too. I have always meant that a gaff-rigged boat could easily be turned into a hybrid junk just by replacing the gaff sail(s) with junk sails. Bertie's rig looks to be working well.
