I am putting a Grizzly – one size up from the Cub – in the new shanty boat. We have a grizzly in a tiny guest cabin here, that has worked out well. But it's on the floor – with mineral insulation and heatshield. This has led me to planning to mount the one in the boat using that nice wall bracket the stove company sells. I have had a charcoal-burning heater stove in Auklet – the boat that shows by my posts. I would strenuously agree about positioning where it's least likely for somebody to get thrown against the stove when the boat rolls.

    Fantastic about Labrador!

The Badger I am buying comes with a new, not fitted Mini Cub stove that measures about a foot cubed (12X12X12).

A bulkhead or wall shield can be purchased for wall mounting.

The 2 obvious places for the stove are either main bulkhead or floor in front of main mast.

The floor position, while lower and central for better heating, concerns me for security bumping up on it when rough and blocking access to bilge in emergency.

Solid fuel makes sense for me to start with as I don't have propane onboard and don't expect to be that long in areas devoid of fuel (Labrador for now).

Does anyone have experience with this?
