I don't know if you have looked at:

There is a list there of members who are willing to offer a familiarisation sail.

Most of those members will not see your posting here.  You can however contact such members directly yourself.

    Best of luck.

Greetings on this last day of 2018. It has been over 30 years since I stepped aboard a Coromandel and was amazed by the quiet and simple sailing that a junk could deliver. Much water has passed beneath many small boat and dinghy keels since then and I find myself once more looking at a junk rig. Reason is I am looking for something to sail in retirement. Problem is that in the intervening years SWMBO has become less enamoured with some of the “dramas” that come with Bermudan sailing. Now if there was a rig that was easy to reef / adjust quickly to a passing squall, quiet to sail and undemanding of foredeck work then we could be on to something.

Question is whether there is a kind soul on the UK East or South coasts who would be happy to provide us with a sail to see if we get on with the rig. Preferably in something around 30’ as this would be representative of how far the budget might stretch. I am looking at Summer 2019 as this is when we will be back. Seems a long way hence but I need to plan ahead so I can coordinate leave.

Happy to contribute to costs / make a donation to your favorite charity or whatever seems sensible.

Many thanks for reading this post.
