    Good news, the engine problem has been solved.
    It's running!
    Turns out a copper washer was on the wrong side of the plunger in the injector pump, which I would not have picked. The diagram is a bit misleading in how it's drawn. $100 and well worth it as far as I am concerned.

    Endplates have been mentioned in some earlier threads, I don’t remember when, but here you can see an endplate on a Freedom 30, I think it was. The owner reported that it reduced weather helm and improved tacking. Here is a diagram with 3 possible fixes for weather helm on Freedom boats. It was this that resulted in that endplate.

    Arne, the rudder is true to plan. A friend commented on it's shallowness as well and it has got me wondering now. I'm curious about the endplate and cavitation plate though. Do you have a link to a photo or two?

    I'd recommend building a yuloh whether you solve the engine problems or not. The gremlins will return when you least expect them. We have kept a yuloh on Easy Go to provide motive power when, not if, our new engine falters.

I have a diesel mechanic coming out on Saturday morning to hopefully sort out why it's not running. I'm wondering if I should quickly build a Yuloh.:)

    I've decided to delay the launch a fortnight. I've realised I'm cutting it too fine with the number of jobs to be done...not many bit some are fiddly and complex. Also i need to feel confident that I've fixed the crack.

    Run into a small problem today. I was prepping the hull for the antifoul when i noticed a crack where the keel joins the hull. it must have happened when I was moving the boat the other day. I've filled the gap and tried to tighten the bolts. I guess I'll know tomorrow.
