Back in 2014, John Kwong opened this topic and pointed at a Chinese TV program about building that boat, in Tianjin (near Beijing).

The Youtube video below seems to be a shortened version of the same thing. However, when I try that original link, I come to a Chinese site where I cannot find my way to that program, so the Youtube clip  will have to do.

I suggest you have a look at the discussion from 2014. Here are a few stills that I captured from that TV-program.

...plus this photo  -  products from the little forge.

PS: Note the foredeck man with the long stick. My armchair guess is that he kept the foresail sheet in order when tacking or gybing.

I even used some of my precious data to see this: fascinating in spite of the rather patronising commentary (and the weird introduction you mention).  I rather wish that my boat was just a case of making a hull, 'mounting' the masts and shoving on a rudder: even more that I could have built a boat in 44 days!  But it's definitely work boat finish: I loved the pragmatic approach to a bolt that was in the way in the mast step - knock off its head!  Hmm.

Still, good to hear that another one is under way.  And thanks for drawing our attention to this video.

Ignore the strange animated opening, skip to about 3 minutes in.

The focus is the boat, not the rig, but lots of interesting info nonetheless...
