I recently saw a TV show called "Flipping Ships — from Junk to Gem" in which they promised to convert an abandoned small sailing boat into a "Chinese junk".
I advise you not to watch it unless you want your blood-pressure elevated.
Apart from the very contrived staging of the whole show, they completely fail to build a proper junk rig. We only get to see the finished rig for a few seconds, but it's clear that it has either no battens or tiny bendy ones, a single sheet on the boom, and yet the luff is still ahead of the mast. You get to see it flopping around rather sadly for a moment or two.
It made me wonder if the people involved looked anything up at all.
