Noisy, squeaky batten anti chafe

Hello from Loon II, in the water now and working out the details of running rigging. Went for a test sail yesterday and things went pretty well considering that things are still quite jury rigged, I'm pleased to report that my boat goes to windward with the flat cut sails better than expected, probably just as well as the gaff rig did.

The problem I'm dealing with now is the noise from the tubing I used as anti chafe on the mainsail battens, it was made from old turnbuckle anti chafe covers which I thought would be perfect. It makes a terrible noise rubbing against the grp mast, even the slightest movement makes so much noise I had to get up last night and wrap an old towel around the mast to be able to get some sleep. It's really pretty awful.

My question is: what type of hose/tubing have people used, without the noise problem?
