I'm still a little early in the project to post valuable information with regard to the costs so far, but will do so when appropriate.  If you would like Annie, adding my stuff as part of your thread would be appreciated - especially if it would serve the function of helping people find cost data a little easier.  One early observation I'll add right now though is that I've spent a fair bit more than I expected on tooling up and getting a build site.  That stuff can sure pick away at your funds!  I will detail that part of it for sure.

Looks to be a cool build. I just cross-shared a link to this site with Shantyboatliving.

Is this the same boat that was just featured on Shatyboatliving.com?

    Thanks Karlis,

I'm a big fan of SketchUp and have become reasonable proficient with it over the years drawing Triloboats as well as my own ideas.  This boat is mainly a Triloboat but does have some unique differences such as full length longitudinal stringers.

I am keeping tabs of my costs so far and have divided them between the actual boat materials, and everything else such as tools, space rental, consumables and so forth.  As far as boat materials so far I've gotten hold of a pile of Indonesian mahogany pallet material that will come in real handy for finishing out.  There is quite a lot of it - probably more than I need - and that was a few hundred dollars.  A lift of 1/2 inch fir marine ply (66 sheets) and 150 structural fir 2x4  x 16 feet was $5500 delivered to the house.  I have yet to buy any adhesives (PL Premium and epoxy) but once I do I will have enough to pretty much build the structure.

I'll post progress in a more appropriate forum (?) and once I've gone a little further I'd be happy to have you out for a look!

I love your Sketchup models Alan! I'm a big fan of triloboats, and I'm excited to come and see your project as it takes shape (I'm in Vancouver).

I think you mention on your website that you've done some cost estimates for some of these models, can you share those? We've been developing a new floating project and I'd like to know how a dock-shanty concept compares to a triloboat at the material costs around here.
