    Peter,

Thank you for your response.  I do plan on keeping an active journal as I start SATU's restoration.  I'm in contact with Tom Colvin's son Kenneth who is in the planning stages to keep his father's plans available to those interested in the Colvin collection.

If you look in the photo gallery I've included some photos of SATU beyond the bow shot.  Again, I will begin sharing more photos and information about this particular Junk in the very near future.

    Best regards,

Congratulations on your new boat.  I've always loved that design on the bow.  I tried sometime ago to find out more about this design but the designer was less than helpful.

I'd love to see more pictures of her.  I can only ever find a shot of the bow!!

Perhaps you'd write an article for the magazine..???

Looking forward to seeing your progress.

It's official I am the new owner of "SATU" a Thomas Colvin designed Hangchow Bay Trader. Satu was built in Miles Virginia in 1975 and over the course of her 40 year life, she ended up in Seattle, WA where I found her on the hard at a local marina in want of a new and willing owner. She was found in sound but neglected shape and with my help she will be ressurected back into her former (she's not very yatchty) Chinese working class Junk. I plan to rig her in the "Colvin" fashion using 6 batten sails. My thinking at this time is to construct the sails with TopGun canvas(Burgundy)with 6061 T6 Aluminum masts per plan.

I will have updates as soon as I complete the initial once over to get her ready for the restoration work.

    Sincerely,

    Pierre LaRochelle
