Greetings all!
I was just able to upload a folder to the JRA "BOX" containing 157 photos of our "new to us" girl, Etoile du Sud (a 34' Junk Rigged Jay Benford designed Dory Schooner). Please take a look at the pictures and comment. My partner and I are new to junk rigs and were not sure what we were signing up for when with took this undertaking. We are very excited and already love the boat...even though the boat needs a little love. She was built in 2007 and completed in 2011 so many of the components are newer. We had her surveyed and she is structurally sound and the the engine, battery, gauges etc work fine. I appreciate suggestions on what needs to be done to get this girl up to speed. Our plan is to get some more experience sailing her around the Caribbean. After that our plan is to sail her to Maui and eventually use this girl to continue heading West until we circumnavigate the globe! Obviously she needs quite a bit of work before that time.
Again, I appreciate your feedback and suggestions. We are trying to do this on a small income as much as possible. I am fairly handy and we have a pretty good tool set that was left onboard and some tools of our own. Other than that, she's currently in the Keys, Florida and if anyone wants to check her out in person just let me know. We are happy to show her to experienced JR'ers who might be able to give us tips on her operation.
Thanks all!
