This is disappointing, especially after all the hard work you and others have put in. Apart from the obvious support you have rallied to bring Keying II back to operational condition, the sailing back to Hong Kong would make a tremendous sequel to the voyage of her namesake 170 years ago. I'm sure it could attract lots of media interest and support.
We cannot know all the grounds upon which this decision was made - although it is easy to believe that the saving of face might be one - the history of Keying II since arriving in the UK does not reflect well upon us as custodians. This decision will look like a very poor one in hindsight if that record is found, after a few years, to have continued.

I think the writing of a letter is a good idea - perhaps you could do it on behalf of the JRA on a headed template? What do the committee think?
