Flutterby gets an 'A' on her test sail

Two days after the test sail, we got underway down the waterway (US Atlantic Intra-Coastal Waterway aka "The Ditch") had three hours of sailing and more than that motorsailing. Our grins just got bigger and bigger all day. At least until the wind died and we had to motor in order to make an anchorage.

She balances well, the helm is light under sail. Haven't found lee helm yet. Weather helm was only bad when we reefed the main before the mizzen on a reach once, and reefing the mizzen fixed that. So my plan of putting lots of balance in my main and having my main battens stick out as far as the bow pulpit / anchor seems to be a winner on the Freedom 33 cat ketch.

When I have a chance to sort the 150+ rigging pictures out and the bandwidth to upload some I'll put some up for you all to see! Still haven't got a sailing pic from off the boat yet.

We did a bit more sailing and motorsailing on our third day out...and I've got internet while we wait for a bridge to open, so time to put up a quick update!

A well done from me as well. Hopefully it won't be too many more weeks before I can say the same.

Yes it is such a delight! Our grins just won't go away! I've got work to do still, and that won't remove a grin either!

Let me add a big THANK YOU to everybody who helped us with rig design and problem solving, and just answering questions for us.! Many people are right here on this forum: Annie Hill, Slieve, Arne, David Tyler, Paul Thompson, Robert Groves. Plus probably half a dozen more I can't recall right now. Sometimes it takes a (global) village to build a sail.
