John - I hope they'll do a write-up for us, but in the meantime the fastest way to read it is via their outstanding blog - see links above.

    Hi Jim

Thanks for that update. I edited the title so it made a bit more impact - hope you don't mind. After watching the Teleport YouTube videos last winter, I'd forgotten to check out her progress. Great news that she's the first junk to complete the trip.

Members may like to catch up on previous Teleport posts here, in which links to the superbly-made and entertaining YouTube 'ice' videos can be found.

Teleport has recently transitted the North West Passage, the first junk rigged boat to do so. She resides presently in Nome, Alaska.  An earlier attempt was made by solo sailor, Colin Irwin from England. His rig was designed by Blondie Hasler and Colin was tutored in its use by Mike Richey. His two-summer attempt failed because of pack ice. I met Colin later in Halifax as I was finishing Marco Polo, now Teleport. He went back to England but returned to Halifax later, on what just happened to be the very day I was ready to take her out for her maiden sail. We took her out together. Her rig was also personally designed by Blondie.
