Knot - wrap the topping lift line around the U bolt twice to further avoid chafe, tie a bowline  and be sure to sew in the bowline.  O a round turn and two half hitches, again sewn in,  But I prefer the bowline.

I'm about to step the mast on my Rustler 31 JR conversion. The masthead attachments for the two halyard blocks, lazyjacks and mast lift are stainless U bolts epoxy bonded through holes drilled in the aluminium mast section and into an epoxy bonded internal teak plug. The two halyard blocks will be suspended from stainless shackles, but can I safely tie the lazyjacks and mast lift directly to the U bolts rather than having to use spliced eyes/thimbles and shackles? The U bolts have been mirror polished and waxed so are unlikely to chafe the 10mm braid.

What would be the best knot to use?
