Forward mast on a narrow bow

I am no expert, but your bow looks buoyant enough to me.  Have a look at the foremast on boats like BADGER and her sister Benford dories.  If they can do it so can you.

    Good day!

A year ago I happened to get hands on a brand new (meaning never seen water) steel hill with almost finished interior, engine and most of equipment of a 47 ft steel multichine ocean yacht made after Reinke 'Hydra' project.

As a junk rig fan I want to finish her as a JR shooner. With kind help of Arnie we agreed on a sail plan. As this boat has one serious limitation: it has a center cockpit with engine under, and it is right to the middle of the ship. So the main has to be fitted slightly fore of the middle to leave room for entrance hatch.

So, what bothers me: JR masts are heavy. Wooden one would be close to 500 kg for forward mast. And the bow of Hydra is really narrow and has no forefoot below waterline. My fear is that adding 500+ kilo there would make the boat to heeling, even though is is well ballasted (4.5 tonnes in a fin keel) and overall the boat is 12 tones dry weight.

What do you think, does this kind of a narrow bow requires going for carbon-fibre mast? It can be made below 200kg weight, but a costly option (though avaliable)?

PS enclosed are photos of a 1:20 model I made for planning interior and a sailplan
