Just for the record, what sort of sailing are you doing or planning to do?

I've always dreamed of owning one of these lovely Holman classics but have never been in a financial position to even consider buying one. However, due to a recent change in circumstances, and the coincidence of a reasonably priced example appearing on the second hand market, I'm now a Rustler owner.

She's bermudan sloop rigged at present but I reckon a conversion to junk shouldn't pose many problems. I'll probably use David's latest generic 'Fantail' sail profile and build a wooden mast as described in Arne's junk rig tutorials. What I have to decide on is where to position the mast. The logical place would be the area of deck directly ahead of the coachroof front, but would this be too far forward? I've uploaded a photo and diagrams of the boat's general arrangement and sailplan to my 'members' photos' . The sailplan drawing shows a later version of the rig with the mast positioned a little further aft than the mast on my boat, but the C of E of the sails should be the same with both versions.
