The AGM will be held, once again, in McLeod Bay, Whangarei, New Zealand on 7th April 2018, commencing at 6pm. At the conclusion of the AGM there will be a pot luck dinner. It is hoped that there will be informal sailing prior to the AGM and then the combined fleet can sail in company on Sunday 8th April. Details will be discussed at the AGM and we hope for less gusty conditions than we experienced last year. Looking forward to a good turnout of members and boats.

Hey, Oracle.  Fantastic to hear that you and Le Canard Bleu intend to be at the AGM.  I haven't been aboard since the inaugural North Island junket, back in 2012.

I agree with Annie. It will be fantastic to see LCB in the Bay - what a grand spectacle and a new addition to the junk fleet.

Ok, that would be great. I will just find a small westerly and sail down there !!!

But one day, yes, if I ever dare to take on the southerly seas

One proposal : better website with a real search engine.

But not a big deal really.

    All the best, Raymond Lljeros.

    Hi Raymond

If you are referring to the search boxes on the public pages, they are Google search boxes which, by design, can only search the public areas (and Google).

If you are referring to the Members' search box at the top of the Members' page, which can search all areas of the site, it would be useful if you gave us some indication of what's wrong with it.

Likewise, "better website" is not really a proposal unless you can give us some indication of what's wrong with it, and preferably some suggestion as to how it might be improved. We are always looking for people with the imagination and willingness to help improve the site.

    Chris

Tell you what I would like, Chris (but not wanting to add any burden, just making the suggestion, since you  asked):

It would be wonderful to be able to select a thread, and then call up a little app which allowed the entire tread to be saved as a file for future reference.

I am finding these threads (old ones too) a wonderful repository of information, but sometimes find something while on the fly, then have trouble going back to have a second look and being unable to easily find. Some of them I would like to simply save in their entirety, for easy reference and some editing of my own, later.

Its not worth a lot of trouble, but if you know of some way to do that I would be interested to know. It would be good for people like me who, when finding a nutritious little nut, like to take it and store it away like a squirrel. Is there some way that I, the user, can do that?

Hi Graeme.  Way off topic: this should be in the JRA, Mag and Website forum, really.  But to answer your question: just bookmark the thread that you are interested in and put it in a folder in your bookmarks called 'Interesting things from the JRA website' or some such.

    Thanks Annie. Both points taken.

Is the AGM always held in NZ ("once again in McLeod Bay) given that NZ membership is 29,  UK 265 and USA 172?  Will it be quorate?  Does it depend on where the elected officers are based?  Just asking!

No.  All AGMs had been held in UK until recently.

Yes.  The AGM is already quorate.  It requires 15 members to attend either the real AGM or to be observing and participating in the on line AGM forum.  This has already been achieved.  However, if you go to General Meetings and the AGM 2018 Forum you can also register and observe.  Indeed all are encouraged to do so.

No.  We are an international organisation.  The only geographical restriction is that we have a UK based bank account and for practical reasons it has been considered that the Treasurer should be UK based.  If the AGM were to take place in a country remote from the Chair, then they would nominate a stand in for that meeting.

I hope that is useful.  I am not a Committee Member but I have written that myself quickly from memory because I happen to be on the web site and because the Committee Members  currently have lots of other things to address.  However, all the history of previous AGMs and our current (and previous) Constitutions are available to you on the web site.  If in doubt, use the internal search engine.

    Cheers

    Jonathan
