The Rally is a relaxed weekend of like minded Heritage and Classic boat owners getting together for a sail in company, a few drinks, sailing suppers and lots of chat, all hosted at Brixham Yacht Club.  We will award one trophy for the Concours d’Elegance, and we will run a raffle to raise funds for next years main Heritage Regatta.

Friday 15th September – Brixham Harbour have kindly offered free moorings on the main Town pontoon for both Friday and Saturday nights.  Visitors may also use the Brixham Yacht Club visitors pontoons just off the Club in the outer harbour, and you will need a dinghy to get ashore.  Food will be available in the Club and can be booked in advance on 01803 853332.

Saturday 16th September – The Rally itself takes place today.  Brixham Yacht Club will be open all day and evening for refreshments and meals.

Entrants should register and attend the skippers briefing from 10:00 onwards at the Club.  A shuttle service will be available (Brixham Shuttle on VHF channel M1 or 37A) for boats on moorings or pontoons.  Boats should leave their moorings from 12:45 onwards in preparation for the start of the sail in company within Torbay.  The start will be from 14:00 hours onwards, crossing a line between the green flagged buoy and the main mast at the BYC hut  on Battery Point.  The suggested course is clockwise around the BYC flagged buoys starting with the red flagged buoy mark at “A” on the supplied chartlet.  To complete the course sail around as far as white flagged mark “F” and then proceed back to the green flagged buoy.  Sail as many whole or part laps as you desire.  The objective is to have an enjoyable sail in company for 2 to 2 ½ hors before returning to Brixham Yacht Club for a convivial supper and prize giving.  A Rally officer will be observing from Battery Point and advising entrants of any sailing instructions or useful information on VHF channel 8.  Alternatively contact the Rally chairman on 07899993902 for any queries.

Brixham Shuttle water taxi will be available after the sailing to bring crews back to the club, alternatively it is only 10 to 15 mins walk from the Town pontoon back to BYC.  Aim to arrive back at the Club by 18:30 where food orders will start at approximately 18:45 for sailing supers..  There will be brief welcome by BYC officers at 19:00.

Sunday 17th September – Spend the day in Brixham before leaving at leisure for your home berth.  Brixham Yacht Club will be open all day including Sunday lunch, which should be booked beforehand to ensure availability on 01803 853332.

Yes there was one in May Annie, both are organised by the Brixham Heritage Sailing Committee. This one is referred to as a rally rather than a regatta and is more a venue for a last sail in company for those who take their boats ashore or to to a more sheltered place for the winter.  The forecast is not good for next week so we will see what happen to next weekends forecast as we get nearer.
