An update and my reflections on Butterfly.
I bought her as she was available and ready to go for my summer trip. Ideally I would like something a little bigger, and most probably a catamaran. A Coramandel is practically a one person boat.
That said she is a grand wee boat and served me well, the intention was to sell in the autumn, though with other projects on I may keep another year.
She does have issues/ areas for improvement.
Either a small doghouse or spray hood.
Some form of vented heating.
Reorder the interior, one good berth by removing the sink.
Remove through hull fittings. Make cockpit drains into the engine well, the cockpit sole drains / pools to the rear already.
Seal off the routes for water below the inner linings, particularly from the cockpit locker.
If keeping long term or doing a long offshore passage I would think about bulkheads and sealing storage compartments.
Some insulation/ condensation control would be nice, have just seen cork on a roll in B &Q.
Finally, and perhaps not last, give some fullness to the sail by putting tucks in the luff either side of the batten.
Experimenting with the sheeting, it does not set well when fully reefed.
