Very colourful Colvin schooner on Ebay US, US$5,000 starting bid. None of the photos show evidence of junk rig, but text says she is.

Hmm.  I wonder.  She's the first junk-rigged boat I've ever seen with spreaders!

Older photos show her to be gaff schooner rigged, but the first photo appears to show that the mainsail has now been converted to bermudian, with a gaff foresail.  Some Colvin junks, including the Chiddel's Tin Hau, did fit small spreaders up above the hounds, but not half way down the mast!  Maybe a conversion project.  Need to check the bilges for rust though!

This is one of Thomas Colvin's series of pinkie schooner designs, the 36ft "Yin-Yang",  and there is a description of them in his book "Cruising Designs". There are alternative gaff schooner and junk schooner rigs mentioned, though this example appears to be the former, but with a bermudan main. Since the interior is gutted, and the engine is out for rebuilding, this is really a hull, deck and ballast on offer, and the price offered ought to reflect that.

Even more to the point: the bloke in the photo is hauling up a junk sail!  Wouldn't you think he'd show current photos in the advert?

Hello, any news from this boat?
The links above to the photos are not valid anymore.

    Regards!
