I have, until recently, been a paraffin (Primus/Optimus) cooker man, and have always given away the alcohol cookers that came with the boats I bought. However, when my last boat came with (yet another) Origo 3000 alcohol cooker, I decided to give it a try, now that the price of alcohol in Norway had dropped from astronomic to stiff. The cooker has proven to be dead easy to use and fill, and I certainly like it. One real advantage with it is that the heat can be turned down from max (“4”) to min (“1”) and that is perfect for simmering. My paraffin cooker was less fond of being turned down that much, and could protest with a smelly “flame-up”.
