As the title says, I am looking for an aluminum hull, ocean crossing capable, liveaboard sailboat on the east coast of the USA. Preferably junk rigged, and preferably centerboard or swinging keel, as I would like to be able to beach her to dry out and do hull maintenance. A bonus would be tabernacle masts, but not necessary. Under $50k if possible.
I recently saw a junk-rigged aluminum Colvin Gazelle ticking most of these boxes (other than the lifting keel) but unfortunately she was already under contract and is now sold. Something like that, however, would be just about perfect for me.
My ideal boat would be something like the Alubat Ovni 39, although they are a bit pricey, and very rare to find in the US, and also would have to be converted to a junk rig. If I was able to acquire one of these I would probably keep its rigging as as, and convert to a junk when the time came to replace the sails/rigging. Due to their rarity in the US, however, I am certainly open to other similar aluminum hulled sailboats.
Any leads would be very appreciated.
