Overview
My yacht is a Bruce Roberts centre cockpit design based on a Bruce Roberts 35. I discussed extending the hull by 10% with Bruce Roberts Goodson . The ketch rig was designed by Robin Blain with unstayed masts. Galvanized steel was chosen for the masts at 3 mm wall thickness and tapered to 75mm dia at the masthead. The boat is very sea kindly with minimum roll and pitch. A bow extension was added to extend the waterline length and provide extra buoyancy for the forward main mast. It also reduced the pitching of the boat.
The hull was professionally built by Chris Garner of Hayling Island and fitted out by myself. I am a retired Civil Engineer. Needless to say fitting it out took a long time. The purpose of building the boat and the design was for a low stress sea kindly, ease of handling suitable for a family to travel the world.. We never made the world trip because we put our efforts into reconstructing a flint and oak barn on the South Downs in UK.
The spec for the fitting our is our own design with many practical features and good materials.
It has sailed about 2400 kn miles and is now sitting in Catalonia.
