Thanks Dave. I have the Practical Junk Rig book.  They state clearly that “ It is not necessary to specify the sailmaking technique, which will be decided by the sailmaker.” Yes i could design a sail readily from this book.  But i am searching for the techniques and steps and tricks to actually putting it together. I can reverse engineer it from the existing sails but i am away from the boat for a few months and wanting to get my ducks in a row before then.  Wade

Practical Junk Rig by Hasler and McCloud is still the bible for flat cut sails. They have complete details and sewing instructions, and it is totally current for flat cut sails.

In my experience flat cut sails are fine in winds over five to seven knots but cambered sails are much superior in lighter winds. I think cambered sails still perform better in stronger winds but the differential is less.

All the best with the project. David.

Hi, It”s time for a new set of sails for Aletheia. 36 ft Schooner. I have scoured the site for DIY instructions but find myself bogged down wading through all the arguments for cambered or hinged or flat.   I have always been happy with my flat sails of Oddessy cloth but the Uv damage has caught up with me. Is there a practical article on the actual building of these sails step by step instructions preferred. I think Top Gun 9 this time.  I am sticking with flat as its what i know.  Ive never been on a boat with cambered sails. Here is a question has anyone done cambered sails and regretted the change on a cruising boat. I have all the books but find it to be information overload fofor my simple  mind. I want to sew these sails up and be sailing with a minimum of fuss.  Hopefully someone can point to the right place.  Thanks Wade
