has anyone had any experience having a steel hull made. ie will it be easier to have it made in india or china, am thinking of a steel dory. (too paranoid for plywood, not an argument for this thread)
my paranoia was pushed aside and i was about to buy a ply dory, some chap had a 37 or 40' one for sale then pulled out at last minute.
so i like the room factor, as i am an artist and just need more space than 'normal' people, sorry but its a curse. i wish i could just drink tea and chat, but i create hurricanes, and they need space!
yes if i was in jail i could be happy with pen and paper, but philosophy is not an issue here.
so i have been looking for a hull to convert to a junk.nothing much so far
i am looking at about 40' so i assume its ok for a dory to be made of steel at this size, though i have read for some reason it may be too heavy, but people say a lot of things on the net.
has anyone experience or advice on wher i might get a quote for a hull to be made.
as i dont have space to make my own, even though i have spent last 6 months welding for work. im more of a woodworker.
can anyone also tell me if they have experience with steel hull and plywood deck.
can they be made to last, or will they rust out?
many thanks
Andrew
