I am not aware that Kris has ever used a drogue, but I will ask him before the final edit of my Hall of Fame article about him which will be published in the June issue of the JRA magazine.  A drogue may have been of benefit to him in the typhoons he survived in Asia some years ago, but he may have a different opinion about that.  Read the details in the article!

Thanks for the update. I've been waiting for an opportunity to buy some of his books. I really enjoyed Monsoon Dervish.

I received an email this morning from Kris Larsen's partner, Natalie, to say that Kehaar has just arrived in Darwin, and is anchored off Stokes Wharf awaiting customs clearance.  He made a non-stop passage from Hawaii in two months.  The remarkable thing is, he sailed right through a very active monsoon trough.  Darwin was struck by a Category 2 cyclone just 5 days ago, and another has just formed to the east of Darwin, near the Gulf of Carpentaria.  Kehaar, however, is about as seaworthy an offshore yacht as you will ever find, and has weathered typhoons before.  Man and boat are both well.
