My French was just about good enough to translate - and to chuckle.

I doubt Google translate will know the word "tack and I have only just now realised the etymology of the English word, "veer" :-)

On top of each pages you have a "dicton" nice to read, especially to improve your French, while in a North Britany harbor waiting for the weather to improve!

"Qui ecoute trop la meteo reste au bistrot"

"Lorsque les mouettes ont pied, il est temps de virer"

I will look at the almanach aswell.  My French is 30 years rusty so with the aid of google translate it would be quite fun to look at those quotes. We will sail from Bordeaux back to Plymouth over the summer and hopefully my French will improve :-).

    Regards

    hi mark

this annual publication is called the 'bloc marine 2018 – méditerranée' or the 'bloc marine 2018 –manche atlantique' (depending on which part of the french coast you're sailing…)

    Hi all

Last year in France I was shown a book that listed ports/marinas in France with a little chart of their approach. I think it is an annual publication and cannot remember what it was called, random searches on the net have not been fruitful. Are there any members that live in France or know what the book is called?
