    Hi Graham,

Great idea! Jo (Germanˋs short for Johannes or Hans) is such a great sailor and narrator- and impressive man! I enjoy all time being with him and his wife Do. I was sailing with him to England to join the parade for David Thomas, the designer of Golden Wind and once a week sailing from Spain to France on his return from Gran Canaria.

Of course his health could be much better... Last summer he decided to gave Golden Wind to Margit and me. We will do our best to help and keep up his ideas! Never sailed a better small boat with more good ideas ever.

Next Thursday we will visit them in Vogtsburg where they live.

    Cheers - Andreas

Thank you for your reply, Andreas.  I am now directly in  touch with Jo via email, thanks to another mutual friend, Erika Grundmann, the biographer of George Dibbern.  He has given me permission to use his material for a Hall of Fame article, which is scheduled for publication in February 2019 (all the spots for this year are already allocated).  That will in any case give us some time to develop the story, which is already basically fleshed out.  Jo is going to put some more detail together for me, though that may take some time.  I find his story quite unique and inspiring, and he is a delightful character as well.  I am also interested to hear that you now have Golden Wind and that she remains well-loved.  Thanks also for the link to his website.  Please give him my regards when you see him and say that I am enjoying working with him.  I see him as a kindred spirit.

Thanks for that Chris.  I forgot about checking the back issues.  I'll get to work.  I have a few photos but hope I might be able to get some more.  It won't be needed until next year so I have plenty of time but I like to stay ahead.

    Hi Graham

Hans Schaeuble's membership lapsed some time during 2013/2014. He had given no address other than 'Germany'. I do have an e-mail address from that time - no idea if it's still valid/monitored, but you could try it. I will send it to you by e-mail.

You probably know there are 7 articles and letters by him on 'bendy battens' for Golden Hind, and also a description of the vessel and Baltic, Mediterranean and trans-Atlantic cruises aboard her, in Newsletters 22, 24, 27, 28, 34 and 38.

    Chris

I am interested in writing the story of the Hunter Liberty 23, Golden Wind, and am appealing for contact details, information and photos from any members who can help.  I believe the skipper's family name is Schaeuble.  I was sent a link to one of his publications (in German) by Erika Grundmann, George Dibbern's biographer, with a suggestion I feature him in my HOF series.  I would like to do so but cannot find much information.  I have a couple of photos, and know he doubled the Atlantic, and cruised the Med and northern Europe.  I believe he is not in the best health at the moment but would love to make contact if possible.  I am hoping Erika might be able to assist me, but any other help would be gratefully received.  Please contact me via my email address if you can assist.
