After three years working on Finch preparing her to become a junk, its finally time to seriously consider what said junk will look like. I have drawn her up with so many sail plans over those years I have lost count. The incredible amount of information at the Junk Rig association has made the process rich and enjoyable. Thank you all for sharing your expertise.
In the end I am thinking I would like to adapt a David Tyler Weaverbird style sail to Finch. I already have the mast and it will sit 30 feet above the partners. I had to draw the sail at a lower aspect ratio than Weaverbirds sail to bring the center of effort back closer to the center of lateral resistance. The result is a sail with an aspect ratio of 1.875.
I have created an album in my profile with the drawing that is the most current iteration of the sail plan in case anyone would find it enjoyable to take a look and throw some critique my way. I wasn't sure how to post a picture in here or I would have. I would love to get the opinions from those that know more than I. Thanks.
