Having recently acquired and started work on my new boat, I thought I'd post updates here for anyone who might be interested.
The boat was previously known as 'Rabbit' and 'White Rabbit". I've renamed her being unable to live with either of these names.
A previous owner did an Atlantic circuit in her, some of which is recorded in old JRA magazines, I believe. Unfortunately she has suffered some years of neglect and requires a lot of TLC to get her back up to standard.
So far:
1.I've ripped out the old sea toilet, and begun the installation of a composting head similar in design to that installed in 'Weaverbird'. Due to space restrictions I've changed it slightly.
2. Taken out a rusty Origo twin burner and the plumbing for the water and sink.
3. Removed and filled 4 seacocks. 2 from the heads and 2 from the galley.
4. Removed 2 windows to make templates for replacements. The perspex was seriously degraded. The new windows have been ordered and should arrive at the end of the week.
5. I've purchased a new water tank to increase capacity, new water pipe and a new whale pump tap.
But the big jobs are still to be tackled...... strip the anti-foul and then apply copper coat; repaint the topsides; the mast will need replacing but this is a summer project!
I'll put pictures in my album when I have a better wifi signal.
