Oh we could start one, but like you said, everybody would probably be too busy building!

I can always sign up under a fairly obvious pseudonym, so that those who know me would recognise me!  Maybe I would be better looking for a Facebook group called Women Who Build Boats.  However, as we would all be too busy building, I doubt it would be that exciting!

    Hi Annie,

Unfortunately not. Though one could join Facebook only for this purpose. In the sign-up they make it sound like you have to answer all sorts of questions, but it turns out the whole thing goes forward even if you leave almost all of them blank. They need a birth date, but one can always put absolutely anything in that box, to avoid giving out actual personal information. There is a "Facebook light" access address that I was using for quite a while, but for some reason it isn't working for me now. But that could just be my computer – that other address is a lot less hyper then the regular Facebook page, and uses a lot fewer data and computer resources. The address that used to work for me, for that, is  https://m.facebook.com

Not that you're probably interested in Facebook at all – I feel quite sheepish for having finally gone over to the "dark side." :-)

Shemaya: I'd be interested indeed, if I did Facebook, but don't.  I don't suppose there is any other way to access this, is there?

Women Who Sail is a Facebook group that I only became aware of a few months ago (I had just joined Facebook a few weeks before that). Imagine my pleasant surprise when somebody signed me up to this group, which I discovered includes over 8,000 women, many of them cruisers and liveaboards, from quite a number of different countries. Some are sailing on their own, some with partners, boyfriends, or husbands, and many with interesting stories and projects.

Of course soon after joining I posted to ask if there were any other junk sailors out there in the group. No affirmative responses! I wonder if any of the women in the JRA might be interested in this group… There are quite an assortment of discussions on all manner of topics. The group's Facebook page can be found here. It would be great to have more junk rig sailors involved!

    Cheers,
    Shemaya
